Gregory & Seeley Optometrists are delighted to announce that we are now able to offer OCT scanning.
Ocular Coherence Tomography, or OCT, is a hospital grade scanning technology that enables us to examine the retina in 3D. By using light, OCT illustrates the different layers that make up the back of the eye and captures both a retinal photograph and a cross-sectional scan at the same time. By viewing the different layers beneath the surface of the retina, OCT scanning assists in the early detection and management of eye conditions including age-related macular degeneration, macular holes, glaucoma, diabetes, vitreous detachment and more.
Instead of discovering eye health conditions through visual loss, the OCT scan can view any structural changes that may subsequently lead to a future visual defect allowing earlier diagnosis and treatment. OCT scanning allows us to keep an invaluable ongoing record of patient eye health from a 3D perspective. Our optometrists are able to interpret the scans and compare previous results to ensure that any changes are noticed quickly.
We offer this additional service to patients with specific risk factors or to those presenting with particular symptoms. Reassuringly, OCT scans are quick, non-invasive and completely painless.
Gregory & Seeley Optometrists are committed to continual investment in the latest technology to provide the highest standard of eye care.
